The day that I became a Christian, that was what I became. What was before is dead and buried, when I got baptised into eternal life with Christ Jesus! The fact that my mother tongue is Afrikaans, that I speak English very deliciously , that I may understand some Xhosa and have white skin, grew up on a “plaas” , listens to “boere musiek” (shh..do not tell anyone this!!) and refer to my friends as “bru and bra” does not define me anymore. It actually never did. I just once was to prideful to see how pointless this identity battle is. I was looking for an identity in all the wrong places. That is not who I am. I am whoever Christ wants me to be; or rather I am TRYING to be whoever Christ wants me to be. 2 Corinthians 5:14-17 ESV For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. I think this scripture sums it up fantastic! Go on get with the culture- Jesus’ Culture!! Praise God! Blessings to you! Eagerly awaiting your thoughts! Dennis
